Casio 1000fps compact cameras

The new range of Casio compact cameras coming this year look very interesting with the addition of a 1000fps movie mode to complement a more sensible HD (1280 x 720) 30fps mode.
The EX-FS10 is credit card sized, although obviously a bit thicker than a credit card (0.64inches) with 3x optical zoom, while the EX-FC100 is larger but still ultra-compact with 5x optical zoom.
As an existing Casio EXILIM user, the FC100 is looking like a good contender to replace my existing model (used mainly for it’s VGA video capability). I’ll still be keeping my Nikon D80 for serious photo duties of course…

1000 fps really sounds interesting. That should allow movies running at only 1/30th of the usual speed. Real slow motion, with such a small cam.

This camera seems like a pretty decent option for a compact camera, i don’t expect it to replace a bigger camera, but is this better than others in its class?

The resolution specs for the high speed modes have not been published yet, but don’t expect HD!
Here are the specs from one of the new breed cameras that Casio released last year:
Hi-Speed Movies (HS) 480 × 360 (210 fps, 30-210 fps), 224 × 168 (420 fps), 224 × 56 (1000 fps) .
210fps at ‘iPhone resolution’ should be perfectly usable…
