Canon S90 and G11
Posted on 19. Aug, 2009 by admin.
Canon has announced two new cameras aimed at “pro-sumers”. The G11 is the followup to the G10, and offers pro features in a reasonably compact body. The G11 is an ideal backup camera for DSLR users with a large sensor, and full manual control.
The S90 is much smaller than the G11 but shares the same sensor and DIGIC4 processing engine.
Neither camera offers HD video, but the VGA resolution should still be capable of good results. Both cameras are aimed more at serious photographers anyway, who are perhaps less likely to regard HD video as a necessity.
Digital Photography Review have a hands-on preview of the S90. The S90 is available September 2009.

New Nikon DSLR
Posted on 14. Apr, 2009 by admin.
Nikon has announced a new DSLR camera to add to the existing and comprehensive range. The D5000 whilst having the biggest model number on a current Nikon DSLR, actually sits below the D90 in the range, although will boast an improved imaging engine which the D90 does not have. Other features include a 24 fps HD movie mode.
The D5000 can be pre-ordered now, link to Warehouse Express website to follow!

Casio 1000fps compact cameras
Posted on 10. Feb, 2009 by Paul.
The new range of Casio compact cameras coming this year look very interesting with the addition of a 1000fps movie mode to complement a more sensible HD (1280 x 720) 30fps mode.
The EX-FS10 is credit card sized, although obviously a bit thicker than a credit card (0.64inches) with 3x optical zoom, while the EX-FC100 is larger but still ultra-compact with 5x optical zoom.
As an existing Casio EXILIM user, the FC100 is looking like a good contender to replace my existing model (used mainly for it’s VGA video capability). I’ll still be keeping my Nikon D80 for serious photo duties of course…
See the Casio news page.
